5/16/2021 1 Comment Types of Hearing ImplantIf you have been suffering from partial or full deafness, hearing aids might be an option for you. A hearing aid is basically an earring-like apparatus that magnifies an individual's hearing and provides him with hearing solutions. These devices are fitted perfectly into the ears and can be operated by the wearer himself. However, there are certain types of hearing aids that are considered more useful than others and some of these are discussed below. For those who have experienced partial deafness, they will definitely understand what these appliances mean for them. A cochlear implant, also known as a CIC, is a surgically placed neuroprosthetic device that gives a person a fully functioning sense of sound by amplifying it. CI bypasses over the normal auditory pathway to replace it by using electric signals that directly stimulate the cochlea nerve without impacting the surrounding tissues. The person wearing this device hears clearer and louder sounds and is able to distinguish high and low sounds. CI hearing implants use two electrical frequencies which are supplied to the auditory nerve from the cochlear implants unit. One frequency uses low energy while the other high energy. These signals are transmitted to the inner ear where they stimulate the cochlea to produce auditory nerve impulses. This is the major mechanism through which the person notices sound and can respond appropriately. There are different types of hearing implants available in the market today, depending on the type of deafness you experience. Two of the most common types are BTE (behind the ear) and CI. These two types are used in almost all the countries across the globe. BTE hearing aids are very common because they are easy to operate and do not require surgery; however, CI aids are much more effective and preferred by patients. To learn more on these hearing devices, see this link. There are many types of hearing aids available for both adults and children. Different people react differently to the same device and have different reactions to it. This is why different types of device are manufactured to specifically address each individual's need. If you suffer from partial deafness then you may be able to benefit from a BTE hearing device. On the other hand, if you suffer from total deafness then you would probably need to opt for cochlear implants. You have to consult your doctor to know the exact type of hearing device that will suit your needs. You should also know that some cochlear implants may need to be adjusted as per the anatomy of your head. Learn more on this topic here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_aid.

It's great to learn how hearing aids can help you overcome deafness! I learned about this term while watching a couple of series recently. I should recommend this to my friend who's having difficulty hearing our online meetings.
